Thor AHLGREEN

 
I was born in Larvik, Norway on
September 12, 1958. My parents,
Rolf Arthur (Art) AHLGREEN
and Edith Reidun ALM
decided to move to Goldenrod, FL, USA,
when I was 5 months old.

I attended St. Luke's Lutheran School in
Slavia (near Oviedo), FL for elementary
and middle school. I then attended
Colonial High School (Class of 1970) in
Orlando, FL and Brevard Community College
(1970-1972) in Cocoa, FL, where I majored
in electronics. I worked at the Goldenrod
Market while I was going to school, progressing
from bagboy to meat cutter.

After a brief (3 months in 1972) employment at
Martin Marietta/Orlando, as a fabricator
in their project engineering lab, I was hired
as an electronics technician by RCA as part
of their contract with the Eastern Space and
Missile Test Range. I was assigned to the
US Naval Ship (NS) Vandenberg, ported out of
Honolulu, HI, for its Pacific Ocean missions.



When the Vandenberg was
reassigned to the Atlantic coast, I transferred
to the USNS H. H. Arnold. I remained on the
Arnold until it was decommissioned in
